Hey, I’m Dawa and I’ve been in and around the Hemp Store since 2019.

One of my first and biggest tasks working here was to write original descriptions for all the products on the website…at this point it’s well over 1000 listings, and it’s still an ongoing job. And I feel in love with doing it.

I quickly learned what all our hemp products have in common; people. Most of these brands started with one person who found what they were looking for in Hemp – whether it was a sustainable fibre to wear, a cure for their dog, or a remedy for their skin.

In Cannabella’s case, it was a remedy for their mum.

Cannabella’s Story

Cannabella was founded in 2017 by 3 Gold Coast brothers – Matt, Tim and Michael Stiegler.

These brothers watched their mum’s journey through chemotherapy and the terrible effects it had on her skin – dry, parched and painful. They tried skin care and health plan galore to try and help her, but the plans never worked, until Matt went down the rabbit hole of Hemp.

Never criticise a someone for their YouTube consumption because it may one day start an incredible line of skincare. From watching a bunch of YouTube videos on Hemp, Matt got inspired to melt down his mum’s current skincare and add his own concoction of hemp seed oil and botanicals. My heart melts thinking about the little kid in all of us making potions in the kitchen. Now he was really doing it.

Their mum immediately saw results, and her pained skin healed incredibly quickly. Matt continued to research skincare and uncovered, like many of us who shop natural have, the cancer causing chemicals in so many skincare products available today. So he stuck to homemade, experimenting and developing on the foundation of Hemp + Botanicals, and testing these products on himself and his mama.

The results were noticeable, and the orders from friends and family started to roll in. Cannabella was born.

Why I love it

I fell in love with this story the moment I read it, especially at the time, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with cancer and on her own journey with natural healing. Cancer is something that touches so many peoples lives, and I realised that often when it comes to illness, people don’t talk so openly, ask for what they need, or gain support from outside their immediate family and medical team.

That’s why this story touched me, deepened my appreciation for this product line, and for Hemp. I hope it’s touched you some way too (not to mention, Cannabella is just a deliciously good line – I adore the La Tropica Body Serum)
